TBH I think making provinces a single terrain type is an improvement, in addition to saying on the tooltip for the province to which bordering provinces it has a river crossing.

One of the patch changes btw, makes it so that the border between Iberia and France is ALL mountains now, so it is much easier to defend by land since its only 3 provinces, and Navarre is now a mountain province ONLY. I wasn't using single stack carpet siege against the AI because I assumed it would sally forth and rek me, but it turns out the AI doesn't (maybe they will patch it in) so it can continue to be cheesed. Most use i can think of the sortie function is to delay an army from reinforcing a fight or delaying them from retreating so your own stack can catch them, or i guess if some1 decides to siege a province with a 2 cavalry stack or something

Not exactly free seeing as it costs you mil points and once they are beaten instant loss of the province which isnt that hard to beat seeing as they are only infantry without a leader, atleast they should get defensive terrain bonuses i guess so perhaps in mountains, overall an attacking opponent will be glad to not have to siege the province for a long length of time and probably saves manpower for not having attrition for a year long It may not help at all, but it can also be the difference between winning and losing. As an added bonus you get -10% tech costs from Ideas and -5% for innovative which gives you only +25% tech costs aka Ottoman research speed.įorts are free infantry, that can cause free deaths.
I took innovative, finished it, reformed govt, annexed vassals, formed Manchu, dunked Ming, boom achievement. You can force vassalize the other tribes in 1 war preventing yourself from getting any non-shaman provinces until you are ready.
Not sure, but theres no way to convert unless you get forced converted by rebels, and the form manchu decision converts to confucianism anyways. Having played Denmark which is in a similar position with no military ideas, it totally sucks since everyone picks offensive/defensive/quality and has more morale, combat ability, and discipline which makes land warfare almost pointless. Basically would have to play them as the naval arm of Austria or Ottomans and rely on them to protect you since you are worthless in any actual land fights. Even the 50% to galley combat capstone blows because you are so rich that you might as well build a huge fleet of heavy ships instead of like 400 galleys. I'd love to play Venice cause their income is insane and they have a ton of strategic options and ways to play them but their idea set is total garbage for MP. I think its so dumb how military ideas are all that really matters in MP :/.
